Preparing your home before fitting day helps everything run smoothly and ensures the best possible finish. Below is a simple guide to help you get ready for your new carpet or wood flooring installation.

Before Your Fitting Date
Clear the Rooms
Please ensure rooms being fitted are clear of:
-
Furniture
-
Ornaments and personal items
-
Electronics and cables
-
Curtains that reach the floor
For larger items you’re unable to move, let us know in advance so we can advise.
Arrange Access
Our fitters will need:
-
Clear access to the property
-
Parking nearby if possible
-
Someone present at the start of the day to answer any questions
If you won’t be home, we can discuss access arrangements ahead of time.
Pets & Children
For safety and efficiency:
-
Please arrange for pets to be kept out of the fitting area
-
Young children should be supervised or kept away from work zones
This helps our fitters work safely and without interruption.
Preparing for Carpet Fitting

Existing Carpets & Flooring
-
Old carpets and underlay can usually be uplifted by our fitters (if agreed in advance)
-
Please confirm disposal arrangements before fitting day
Doors & Thresholds
-
Some doors may need trimming after new carpet and underlay are installed
-
Our fitters will advise if adjustments are required
Skirting Boards
-
We recommend leaving skirting boards in place
-
Gripper rods and edges will be fitted neatly for a clean finish
Preparing for Wood Flooring Fitting
Subfloor Preparation
-
Existing flooring should be removed if agreed beforehand
-
Ensure the subfloor is dry and free from moisture issues
-
Any known problems (uneven floors, damp concerns) should be flagged in advance
Temperature & Heating
-
Wood and wood-effect flooring should be fitted in a stable environment
-
Heating should be on at a normal living temperature
-
Underfloor heating (if applicable) must be turned off in line with our guidance
Skirting & Finishing
-
We’ll discuss whether flooring is finished with scotia beading, trims or under skirting
-
Please remove any fragile items from walls near the fitting area
